Luke Achterberg is a sculptor who draws his inspiration from customized cars and hot-rods and the graffiti and street art that were touchstones of his childhood. Hailing from a family of welders and automobile customizers, Achterberg studied both fine art and technical welding before entering the University of Kentucky where he completed his Master of Fine Art degree. During his last year of graduate school he received the Outstanding Student Achievement in Contemporary Sculpture Award from the International Sculpture Center. Achterberg exhibits work throughout the United States and Switzerland. He lives and works in Lexington, KY.
